The GEAR Center has developed a novel design tool to design high-performance, low-cost ESR feet, the Lower Leg Trajectory Error (LLTE) design framework. The foot was designed to be compatible with the Jaipur and ICRC attachment method. However, with the international fatigue requirements (ISO 10328), the slot through the middle of the foot that allowed for the ICRC attachment had to be minimized.
The current version of the foot has passed the international standard, but now no longer fits an M10 bolt, which presents a major challenge in distributing the foot. The goal of this SuperUROP project is to design an attachment mechanism that is compatible with the ICRC system for the LLTE low cost prosthetic foot maintaining its low cost and stress and fatigue profile that meet international standards.
Through the SuperUROP program, I want to learn more about applying the knowledge I gain from classes in research.
