Electronic Development & Miniaturization of a Prototype Hydration Monitoring Device

This project focuses on miniaturizing a system that measures the level of hydration in the human body using radio wave. The proof of concept, though functions with high accuracy, consists of non-portable components such as benchtop network analyzers. The goal of this project is to make the system smaller and more scalable by designing and integrating a custom measurement system using small radio frequency power detector chip with smaller measurement probes. In the first phase, different RF power detectors IC and custom measurement probes will be selected and tested to meet specified measurement precision and noise level. In the second phase, a circuit board will be designed to interface the custom measurement circuit and probe with a micro controller to produce results similar to current prototype.
As I am looking forward to graduate school, I want to experience more extensive research through SuperUROP and prepare myself for future graduate projects. At the same time, I am excited to learn about high frequency electronics while exploring my interest in electronic circuit design and microcontrollers.
