Research Project Title:

Speech Analysis System

abstract:For my SuperUROP, I aim to develop a better speech analysis system by utilizing linguistic and machine learning techniques. The system will extract signals and labels for acoustic events and feature cues from an audio file. It will then use the signals of the acoustic events to train modules that recognize contrastive parameters in languages. From the results of these detection modules, I can use linguistic constraints to predict words from the extracted signals. Through my research, I want to develop efficient and accurate detection modules as well as evaluate the performance of the resulting speech recognition system.

I joined this project since my college sophomore year. I really like the linguistic aspect of the research and am particularly interested in working with machine learning. I hope to continue learning a lot of technical skills and research skills through my SuperUROP. I am very excited to see the result at the end of my research project.
