Abstract

Two-dimensional polyaramids (2DPAs) are covalently bonded polymers with exceptional strength, stability, and gas barrier properties. This project explores how structural variations, particularly end-group modifications, affect 2DPA solubility, film formation, and interfacial behavior through the synthesis and characterization of different films. These films will be spin-coated onto MAPbI₃ perovskites, and their resistance to ambient degradation will be evaluated using XRD. The broader goal is to advance fundamental understanding of 2DPA design principles and their potential as versatile protective barriers for sensitive materials, with perovskites serving as one example of interfacial protection.

Through this SuperUROP, I intend to strengthen my research skills in polymer chemistry and chemical engineering, building on the content I learned in organic chemistry and Course 10 classes. I am excited to explore polymer engineering applications that can contribute to efficient and sustainable solutions. I also hope to further develop my problem-solving skills and apply chemical engineering principles to real-world challenges.
