Abstract

The connection between government and industry is one that is immensely complicated but highly impactful, with lobbying and campaign donations driving change. In Song KimÂ’s lab has developed a high-dimensional database that sheds light on the relationships between individuals, politicians, companies, and industries. In Song KimÂ’s lab works to highlight and analyze these connections that ultimately shape public policy. By understanding the networks that connect business and politics it becomes possible to gain a clearer understanding of how society is molded. While lobbying is a vast field, I hope to utilize my passion for energy policy and skills in computer science to build machine learning models with a focus on energy lobbying.

Quote

I am super passionate about energy policy – especially the intersection of sustainable energy, business, and technology. Studying urban studies, computer science (11-6), and business (15-1), working at the Department of Energy, and doing research, have shown me the importance of effective energy policy. Utilizing my training and experiences, I hope to be able to analyze how energy policy and decisions are made and influenced via lobbying.
