Development of A Soft Drone with Grasping Abilities
abstract:Current robot technologies are unable to provide persistent situational awareness of a diverse subterranean environment. In particular, real-time localization techniques are needed to provide robots with enough information to safely and quickly traverse caves. We aim to assemble and develop a novel drone platform that can operate in narrow spaces and extend a library to perform real-time mapping with drones.
"I'm excited to be working with Professor Luca Carlone, the professor of one of my favorite classes at MIT 6.141 (Robotics: Science and Systems). I've done a UROP in biomechanics and enjoyed applying knowledge gained from math and controls classes to a new field. I'm hoping that participating in SuperUROP will teach me how to write research papers, expose me further to robotics, and introduce me to knowledgeable and engaging people!"
