Fabrication and Manipulation of Multi-Segment Soft Robotics
abstract:With high compliance and adaptability, soft robots are emerging as a promising robotics solution for grasping, dragging, and manipulating objects of unknown geometries in unstructured environments. These robots commonly draw inspiration from the natural world, imitating the soft structures and body mechanics seen in animals. My project in the Distributed Robotics Lab at MIT CSAIL will focus on the fabrication and control of manipulation with elephant-inspired soft robotic trunks.
